Manchester United Football Club and Wayne Rooney have been the talk of the internet this summer, with some media outlets expecting the 31-year-old veteran to leave Old Trafford. However, to me, it feels like there has been no solid talks between him and another potential suitor.
Today, the club officially unveiled their new kit for the 2017/18 season, and in this modern age, the kit launch often can drop a subtle hint regarding a particular footballers future.
To my surprise, fronting one of the advertisement pictures was our club captain, Wayne Rooney. In my opinion, this is the clearest hint yet that the England international is set for an Old Trafford stay.
Have a look at the photo below:
It’s from United’s official Facebook page, and it would seem rather daft to use Rooney as the poster boy if the club were planning on moving him on.
I’m of the opinion that he should be sold, but I wouldn’t be surprised if clubs have been put off by his wage demands because let’s be honest, he’s hardly going to leave Old Trafford if he cannot get the same wages elsewhere – it just wouldn’t make good business sense.
You have to say though, his on-field contributions last season were nonexistent. He struggled for any kind of form, and he looked every bit a player who is approaching the latter stages of his career.
