Luiz Gustavo has been targeted as a potential suitor for Manchester United, with The Mirror claiming a move for the 26-year old is imminent. The holding midfielder currently plays his football for Wolfsburg in Germany.
Gustavo, 27 is a key figure in Brazil’s bid for World Cup glory this summer, but it goes rather unnoticed. The former Bayern Munich man is happy to do all the dirty work that flair players like Neymar, Hulk and Oscar don’t particularly like doing – allowing them to concentrate the majority of their efforts to setting up attacks.
Manchester United need a player like this in their squad. Many fans, myself included thought Fellaini would be that player, but Marouane has really struggled in the holding midfielder role, and his inability to defend has been there for all too see.
Gustavo would definitely be a good addition, but he’d cost a fair amount of money. He only moved to Wolfsburg a year ago, so he’s still under contract for a while yet.
