ManchesterUnited is facing a fight to keep ahold of Ander Herrera this summer, with AC Milan interested in signing the Basque-born midfielder, per Tuttosport, translated by The Mirror.
The report says the Serie A giants are plotting a huge £32million move to sign United’s star man, with Jose Mourinho keen to keep Herrera at the club beyond this season despite the fact that he hasn’t been playing regularly.
With Michael Carrick retiring and no news yet on Marouane Fellaini’s contractual situation, United need all the help they can get in the midfield. Herrera is an excellent option to have if only as a squad player, but keeping him makes sense right now, purely so the manager has options in case of injury.
As a player, nobody puts more heart and guts into it than Herrera does, that sort of footballer is a rare thing in the modern-day game, and the former Bilbao man certainly understands what it takes to be a Manchester United player.
Don’t forget that just a year ago, this guy was our Player of the Year and rightly so. He deserves an opportunity to force his way back into the team, despite fierce competition from both Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba.
