Manchester United have earned ten points from the opening eighteen. For a team that’s supposed to be challenging for the title – that’s just not good enough when Manchester City and Liverpool have just one draw between them over the same period.
The one area that the fans weren’t concerned about going into the campaign was the final third. With firepower aplenty, the Red Devils should be scoring goals for fun. Instead, United have looked toothless.
After an excellent pre-season, the majority of us expected Alexis Sanchez to start the year in barnstorming fashion. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened. Instead, he has been pretty awful.
Yesterday summed it up. I genuinely forgot he was playing at one point, that just shows how ineffective he has been. What’s frustrating is that the Chilean will likely keep his place in the team based purely on reputation and what he has done in the past. That’s not right at all – particularly with great talents like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial waiting in the wings.
Fans were all over social media calling for Sanchez to be dropped last night – and rightly so. It was a real sight for concern when the majority want to see him sit out a game or two, but you have to say, that’s exactly what should happen going into a tricky away game against West Ham United…
Doesn't matter how much you get paid, poor performances should not be rewarded with more starts.
Alexis deserves to be dropped – Give Martial 90 minutes over the next three games and he'll produce more. pic.twitter.com/HNK34wZMeR

Alexis Sanchez simply has to sit out the next few games. Just not good enough so far. Huge disappointment. #mufc

I expect Jose Mourinho to drop Alexis Sanchez for the next few games. Underperforming players should be dropped and Sanchez is not immune. Man has been poor forever. Enough!

Thinking back last night, Lukaku and Sanchez dropped a 0/10.

Time for Sanchez to be dropped. It was going to happen eventually.

My biggest question is how many poor games does Sanchez have to play in before he’s dropped

Alexis Sanchez has been a disaster at Manchester United. He’s clearly working hard, but everything he does is to the detriment of the team. It’s time to be dropped. It’s not working.
His role in the side is not paying dividends, so a positional change has to be looked at. #MUFC
