Manchester United Football Club made it three wins out of three under the watchful eye of Jose Mourinho yesterday. The self-proclaimed Special One’s team are yet to concede a goal, whilst scoring ten at the opposite end.
On Saturday, the Red Devils absolutely hammered Leicester City for about an hour before they finally made their breakthrough. The man of the moment? Marcus Rashford from off the subsitutes bench.
However, my Man of the Match played on the defensive side of the ball; Phil Jones. The Englishman has started this season like a man possessed and seriously, all credit to him because he’s been absoolutely outstanding.
He’s won aerial challenges, defended on the front-foot and turned into a proper leader. The question marks about Jones have always been his fitness and injury record, but if he can keep himself off the treatment table, it could be a huge season for the 25-year-old.
As you’d expect, social media was absolutely buzzing about the performance from the former Blackburn Rovers man. So we’ve done you all a favour and compiled some of the best responses below.
Check out the tweets aimed at Phil Jones here:
If Phil Jones can stay fit, there won't be many better defenders in England. As for Bailly… oozes class.

A game United might have drawn 0-0 last season, but ends in a 2-0 win. Won't grab the headlines but Phil Jones good again.

Phil Jones has been transformed into Maldini under Jose. Solid as a rock, great partner for Bailly. Lindelof should be concerned.

Eric Bailly is amazing and obviously everyone loves him. But Phil Jones has been outstanding this season so far, deserves equal praise.

Man of the match for me was Phil Jones, thought he had one of his most dominant performances in years. Bailly was a boss as usual too.
