Manchester United enjoyed derby day success out in Houston, Texas this morning, and it’s always nice to get one over your fiercest rivals. The star of the show? Without a doubt, Romelu Lukaku. The 24-year-old is already showing his sublime quality.
He was an absolute joy to watch right from the off. His hold up play was superb, as was his ability to make the right run and create the space for others. Pace, power, and a footballing brain – the perfect Jose Mourinho striker.
The Belgian opened the scoring with a cool piece of play just after the 35th minute. His mate Paul Pogba played an excellent through ball into his path, before Lukaku made the keeper look rather silly, then powering the ball into the back of the net.
He also had another chance in the second half. The ball fell nicely to him on his left foot, he took the shot, but unfortunately, it rattled back off the crossbar. Anyway, it was a performance to be pleased with and it definitely bodes well.
As you’d imagine, the Reds all over social media were delighted with the excellent all-round display, and took to Twitter to express their delights.

So impressed with Lukaku. Sublime finish for his goal, causing City problems with his runs and linking up well.

How I'm sleeping knowing that City fans paid for MUTV to laugh at Lukaku's first touch but he actually made Ederson look like a peak Bravo. pic.twitter.com/VUGAA5NckZ

That Lukaku finish was absolutely stunning. Top drawer. The less said about the goalkeeping the better

Lukaku's movement is phenomenal. Micky looks like he's really on it, behind the striker he looks so deadly. Very promising in attack!

Calm down everyone, Lukaku has still not proven himself against a big club.
