Manchester United Football Club’s hopes of finishing in the top four all-but ended today. The Red Devils lost to Arsenal, with the game at The Emirates ending 2-0. To be quite honest, we all expected to lose this one – especially as we have bigger fish to fry, continuing Thursday.
The game presented Wayne Rooney with a rare opportunity to start, and I think it’s fair to say that the current United captain didn’t take that chance.
Throughout the fixture, the 31-year-old looked sluggish and way off the pace. Sadly, that’s a trend that we’ve bared witness to all season long, and it really feels like such a dramatic fall from grace for an absolute club icon.
He gave the ball away too cheaply, was out of position a lot and his efforts on goal were poor. Honestly, when you’re on massive wages like he is, we have every right to expect more output from our captain and right now we aren’t getting it.
To me, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mourinho took the decision to sell him on in this coming summer, but that may be tough because who is going to want to take up his hefty wage demands?
The ‘Twitterverse’ was in full swing this evening, and the Reds fans have every right to be disappointed in the performance. Obviously, it was Wayne Rooney who took most of the stick…
Tuanzebe put a good performance lol so much better than shaw who barely could play 60 mins

Surely Rooney knows his race is run? Just looks sad now.

Looks like Mourinho is leaving Rooney on the pitch in midfield to make sure he's too tired for Thursday

Funny that the journos have suddenly spotted that Rooney is terrible, when they were praising him for playing exactly like this in the Euros

I was told Mourinho was ruthless but Wayne Rooney is still out there playing with all the mobility of a double-amputee sloth
