Manchester United fans react to Bastian Schweinsteiger’s move to the MLS

As we all know by now, Manchester United have allowed Bastian Schweinsteiger to leave the club on a permanent deal. The 32-year-old German will try his hand out in the MLS with the Chicago Fire, in what looks like a great move for him.

When we signed Bastian from Bayern Munich close to two years ago now, I for one was supremely excited. This is a guy that has won pretty much everything in the footballing world, including captaining his country to a World Cup crown.

In his first season, we were treated to some stellar performances in the middle of the park, but I always had that worry regarding his fitness levels and his ability to stay off the treatment table.

That, unfortunately, contributed to his downfall as last season, he spent February onwards on the injured list. Then Jose Mourinho took charge, and only gave Schweinsteiger four first-team appearances – three of which were substitute opportunities.

I think moving away was the best move for him, as well as the club. Now, Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to share their views about the move, and it’s fair to say that there are certainly mixed feelings. Have a read below.
