Manchester United fans react to brilliant Sergio Romero display against Southampton

Manchester United now have just one Premier League game left. The fixture against Southampton looked like a couple of sides coming to the end of their season, merely taking part in a rather dull game. However, one man stood out from the rest.

The footballer who played an absolute blinder of a game was Argentine goalkeeper, Sergio Romero. The veteran was brought into the side in the place of David de Gea, probably to get him some minutes on the field ahead of what is likely to be the biggest game of his life in the Europa League final.

He looked calm, composed and positionally, he was absolutely brilliant. Romero stopped Southampton taking the lead with a strong palm away from a penalty, and the way he controlled the back four was wonderful. He also distributed the ball out well.

All of these things combined makes me feel super confident about having him in between the sticks against Ajax. He hasn’t put a foot wrong all tournament long, and he more than deserves to retain his place.

As you’d imagine, the United fans were absolutely buzzing about their hero all over Twitter and rightly so.
