Whenever Louis van Gaal needs a win most, somehow his side manage to pull it out of the bag. That was the case once again this afternoon, thanks to a Juan Mata goal against Norwich City, keeping Manchester United’s slim hopes of finishing in the top four alive.
Mata was extremely quiet from out on the right-wing in the first half, but as the game grew on he grew in confidence and began to find plenty of spaces.
That game to fruition as we approached the 80th minute, and after a lovely bit of footwork from captain Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata cooly slotted home.
United will now have one eye on the Manchester City game against Arsenal tomorrow, and they’ll be praying for Wenger’s men to pick up at least a point in that one – to put the top four ball firmly in our court.
As you’d imagine, Juan Mata was the talk of the ‘Twitterverse’ after the game, with large portions of United’s fanbase extremely happy with the smiling Spaniard.
Juan Mata in the 2nd half was great & was the only one trying. Took his goal well. #mufc

Juan Mata take a bow. Not for the goal but for going to the fans afterwards & taking time for a photo with the kid in the wheelchair. 👏#mufc

Juan Mata the last of the United players to head over to the away end at FT – his goal's won it, and the top-four race just got interesting.
