Manchester United’s season was summed up this evening – so much promise yet so little end product. Louis van Gaal’s men had Champions League football back in their own destiny, and they just couldn’t hack it.
One man who epitomised everything bad about United tonight was Marcos Rojo, as he once again put in another woeful performance. The Argentinian hasn’t been anywhere near good enough at left-back this season, and has often found himself exposed.
Today his defensive position was nothing short of abysmal, he shirked almost every single tackle and he was useless in the air.
Although he’s not alone tonight in terms of poor performances, his certainly stood out from the crowd. He just doesn’t seem like anywhere near Manchester United quality at the moment, and its up to him to improve, and quickly.
As you’d imagine, tensions were high amongst the United fans, and Rojo took a fair pelting on Twitter.
Honestly bad is Rojo as a footballer? Even as a decoy, the opposition don't care about his overlap. Poor passing and crossing.#mufc

Had enough of Rojo. Can't run, can't defend, can't tackle, can't cross. Not sure why he's starting.

Rojo can't even cross a road let alone a ball.

West Ham have definitely spotted our weakest link in Rojo. Now they're just hammering him.

Rojo is the most appalling of his appalling teammates. Again. And yet he's one of LVG's Undroppables.
