Manchester United fans react to news that Fellaini has been handed a contract extension

Manchester United Football Club has been on a good run lately, the last game of which was at home to Hull City. Marouane Fellaini scored the second goal in that game, and just a couple of days later, the club has confirmed that the big-Belgian has agreed to an Old Trafford contract extension.

The 29-year-old has had another twelve months added to his contract, meaning his deal will now expire in the summer of 2018, rather than this coming one.

At the end of the day, it just makes good business sense to tie him down to an extra year on his contract, rather than letting him walk away for free in six months time. The ball is now in United’s court, and if a club does want to buy them they can at least command some sort of transfer fee for his signature.

That said, it looks as though Jose Mourinho quite likes Fellaini, and he is a player that seems to fit the manager’s style of play down to a tee.

The fans obviously weren’t all that happy with the news, however, and they took to Twitter to vent their frustrations. In my opinion, you just have to put complete trust in the manager, particularly when he has been so good for us until now.
