Manchester United Football Club were, quite simply, outclassed when they took on Juventus at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
Jose Mourinho’s were second best for the most part, they just couldn’t break down the wonderful defence that the Old Lady played from first minute till last.
The man tasked with doing the bulk of the goal-getting is Romelu Lukaku. The Belgium international has been struggling recently. He carried that poor form over to European football, with another abysmal display at the Theatre of Dreams.
His touch looked heavy, his passing was awful and every time the ball came into him, it just bounced off; making it easy for Juventus to defend.
Lukaku just looks like an out-of-form player at this point. The best course of action would be to give him time to sit out a game or two as that could reignite the fire in his belly.
It’s frustrating because we know his ability. He’s a great player who will score goals, but right now, things just aren’t going his way and he definitely needs a break.
As you’d imagine, the United fans weren’t so kind towards the 25-year-old over Twitter. We’ve compiled our favourite tweets below:
That’s it. Lukaku has to be dropped. There is no way we can continue to accept performances like that. Promote Mason Greenwood, play Alexis there, anything. That cannot be accepted on a weekly basis.

I remember reading tweets that Lukaku stays behind at training to teach Rashford and Martial how to finish. Finish what? Finish their food?

How to be Romelu Lukaku
1. Give away possession
2. Give thumbs up to teammate
3. Fail to control an easy pass
4. Give thumbs up to teammate
5. Win a header to nobody
6. Miss an easy chance
7. Celebrate someone else's goal way too much
8. Give thumbs up to universe pic.twitter.com/5NiW4BXs8I
