Victor Lindelof was Manchester United’s first signing of the summer, and it is definitely fair to say that the ‘Iceman’ had a mixed pre-season. At 23, it will take him time to adapt to life in his new surroundings. The UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid was always going to be a big test for him.
His display, on the whole, was a real mixed bag. At times, positionally he got it spot on, but on other occasions, he looked completely lost. Although Madrid’s opener should have been ruled out for offside, I would have liked the former SL Benfica man to be a bit tighter to the eventual goalscorer Casemiro.
I guess that he is still a raw talent and we will get that inconsistency from him. The problem we have is the fact that he’ll forever be compared to Eric Bailly, who came in and took the Premier League by storm from day one.
Will Lindelof start at the weekend? Probably not, but Mourinho bought him for a reason, and no doubt he’ll grow and improve as he continues to develop under the self-proclaimed Special One.
For now, though, check out some of the fan reaction after Lindelof’s first competitive match in United colours.

Matic had a solid competitive debut,Lindelof, struggled again & Romelu Lukaku has significant room for improvement despite scoring the goal

LIndelof was 'ok' tonight, must improve though. Don't think he'll start at the weekend. Will be Bailly & Jones, I think.

Watching the Super Cup highlights, first goal…guess who lost his man? Victor Lindelof. Not convinced he's United material.
