Manchester United former star heaps price on ‘unbelievable’ unsung hero

Manchester United Football Club definitely have one foot in the final of the EFL Cup, thanks to a decent 2-0 result at home to Hull City in the first leg. The victory was sealed when Marouane Fellaini headed home to double United’s lead after being brought on as a second half substitute.

However, it was the performance of the first goalscorer Juan Mata that has got people talking. The talented Spaniard was at the heart of everything good for the Red Devils, as his passing, movement and excellent footwork was an absolute joy to watch.

One former red quick to heap praise on the 28-year-old was Phil Neville, who hailed United’s attacking midfielder as ‘unbelievable’ and going on to add that Mata always delivers and has a fantastic record.

“Juan Mata has been unbelievable,” Phil Neville is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

“Every time I’ve seen Juan Mata play for Manchester United, he either assists goals or score goals.”

“He always delivers. His record is fantastic.”

“Now, for someone we thought would be first out the door, he’s probably now one of the first on the team-sheet – or nearly there.”

It is true. Juan Mata is a man for the big occasions, and he always pops up with those crucial goals and assists that turn matches in our favour. It happened in the semi-final, he scored the leveller in the FA Cup final last term, and he seems to absolutely love a goal against Liverpool; who coincidentally are our next opponents.

To have a man so committed to the cause in our squad is great, and you get the impression that he absolutely loves playing for Manchester United Football Club. Perhaps the only real downside is that Mourinho tends to always sub him off no matter the situation, but many thought he’d be the first name out of the door when the self-proclaimed Special One took charge.
