Manchester United have been given huge encouragement in their pursuit of Neymar, if reports from the Daily Star are to be believed. They are claiming that the Brazilian superstar is unhappy with life in Catalonia, and is open to the idea of moving to England.
He has had tax issues in Spain, and he also believes that he will never be able to step out of Lionel Messi’s shadow at the Camp Nou and he could be tempted into a move.
Although the Red Devils weren’t mentioned in the article, there has been plenty of rumours over the summer suggesting that the Old Trafford club do hold an interest in the 25-year-old.
Obviously, United need a new forward after Ibrahimovic’s contract hasn’t been renewed and bringing in Neymar would send out a real statement of intent to the rest of the Premier League. No price was mentioned, but you’d imagine it’d take something above and beyond the current world record transfer fee, which stands at £89million (Paul Pogba to United).
United would probably have no problem in paying whatever it takes, but to be honest, I’d prefer the club to not waste their time chasing Neymar because we’ve seen it happen so often in the past.
If the player wants the move badly enough then he will indicate that to Jose Mourinho and United directly, but it’d be frustrating to watch us chase him, for Neymar then to come out and reaffirm his commitment to Barca.
