Bayern Munich’s honorary president Franz Beckenbauer has insisted that no player is irreplaceable and the Bavarian club will not be giving into Toni Kroos’ wage demands. It is believed that the 24-year old wants a significant improvement on his £90,000 a week contract, that’ll see him earn as much as players such as Thiago Alcantara.
Beckenbauer said:
“You have to make a decision as a club when someone’s demands are going through the roof.”
“There is not a single player who’s worth changing your entire wage structure for.
“Nobody’s indispensable. If the player wants to stay at Bayern, I can only advise him not to overplay his hand.”
Kroos has been a key figure in Bayern’s successes in recent years, and to me this sounds like their attempt at making the player lower his hefty wage demands. I still think he’ll sign a new deal in Bavaria sooner rather than later…
