It doesn’t seem that long ago when young goalkeeper Sam Johnstone was being seriously considered for his first Premier League start against Tottenham Hotspur on the opening day of the season. Particularly after a thoroughly impressive pre-season tour.
However things have taken a dramatic turn for the worst regarding the future of the 22-year old, and according to the Daily Mail he has been left furious with Louis van Gaal.
They say that Johnstone wanted to go out on loan if he wasn’t going to feature for United, but Louis van Gaal blocked any move that would allow the youngster leave the club.
Up until the transfer deadline Johnstone has been backup to Sergio Romero, but after David de Gea is set to stay at the club the young goalkeeper has dropped further down the pecking order meaning he’ll probably get next to no playing time.
The 22-year old has been shipped out on loan on no fewer than six occasions, and I’d only like to see him go out again if its to a Championship club or higher.
