Manchester United goalkeeper sees his loan deal terminated

Manchester United Football Club thought they were finished with Victor Valdes earlier this season when the experienced Spaniard was sent out on loan to Standard Liege – but now he’s back. After an unsuccessful spell out in Belgium, he has had his loan agreement terminated.

Standard Liege gave a statement as to why his contract had been ended, and you have to say it makes sense:

“We want to give youngsters a chance in the upcoming games. Valdes is currently injured, so we decided to terminate the deal.”

It was always going to be a huge gable by bringing Valdes in, and its fair to say it hasn’t paid off at all. He’s 34 now, and he was never going to be happy with just sitting on the bench watching his fellow countryman David de Gea made remarkable save-after-save.

After a bust up with Louis van Gaal, you knew any slim chance he had was over, and after that he was exiled from the first-team completely.

Now he’s back at the club and he still has until the end of the season left on his current contract, so Manchester United will have to pay him his wages up until that point.
