Manchester United Football Club has today confirmed that Antonio Valencia has penned a one-year contract extension, that’ll keep him at Old Trafford until the end of the 2017/18 season. The 31-year-old is currently in his eighth season as a red, and he’ll make it nine next time around.
The man from Ecuador has played close to 300 games in all competitions for the Red Devils, and has really turned into a key player for Jose Mourinho’s side. Valencia has started twenty-three games for Manchester United this season, which just goes to show how much of a vital cog he has become.
In my opinion, Antonio is one of the best, if not the best right-back currently in the country, and that is testament to just how hard he works. Let’s not forget that he started life as a right-winger and when he came to the club he was filling the boots of a certain Cristiano Ronaldo.
He’s been supremely underrated for us, and he always gives 100% to the cause. If he fulfils this new contract, he’ll be just one more year away from a testimonial at the Theatre of Dreams, and this is something that I really hope happens because he’d thoroughly deserves it.
