Manchester United will be in great spirits during training this week, fresh off the back of their EFL Cup success. Next up, a home game against AFC Bournemouth in the league, and a win here gives us a real shot at moving up in the table.
Ahead of that game, we’ve been handed a timely injury boost, with Phil Jones telling the official website that he’s fit and ready to return after being back in training.
The 24-year-old had been missing with a foot injury, but he’s now back and available for selection, which gives Jose Mourinho another option in a key area of the field.
Before his injury, Jones was forming a real strong partnership with Marcos Rojo at the back, but the combination I’d be extremely interested in seeing is Jones alongside Bailly. They are both young, aggressive defenders and those two playing together is a really exciting possibility.
This news couldn’t have come at a better time, particularly with the Europa League last sixteen first leg against FC Rostov coming next Thursday. It just means the boss can chop and change the centre-backs for that game, allowing others to rest.
