Manchester United have finally received some positive injury news. The club’s official website has confirmed that three players are back in training ahead of Spurs’ visit to the Theatre of Dreams on Saturday.
Phil Jones, who limped off the pitch against Huddersfield has trained, as has Marcus Rashford, who picked up a knock in midweek. The third player back involved is Eric Bailly. He suffered an injury while playing for the Ivory Coast a couple of weeks ago.
This is huge. Our defence hasn’t looked the same without Jones and Bailly, and to get those two back together would offer an awful lot more stability back there. It’s probably too soon for Bailly to start this weekend, but a return isn’t far off.
I think it’s fair to say that Rashford has been our best attacker over the last few matches. It’s imperative that Jose Mourinho can count upon him against Mauricio Pochettino’s side. His sheer pace will cause problems, and give him an opportunity, more often than not he’ll score.
A win against Spurs is becoming a must. United need to get back to winning ways, and knocking off Tottenham would send out a real statement of intent.
