Manchester United’s £36million swoop for Anthony Martial was obviously well documented by the press because of the astronomical fee, but the more you delve into the talents of the 19-year old, the more you think it could prove to be one of the steals of the summer – especially in the long-term.
Sky Sports News have compiled some stats about the top teenage goal scorers in the top five European leagues, and guess who comes out on top? Anthony Martial.
Martial, 19, has scored 9 Ligue One goals since the start of last season, two ahead of Santi Mina of Valencia and also Liverpool’s new-boy Divock Origi.
There is definitely something special about Martial. He has pace, intelligence on the ball, great finishing ability and most of all he has a cool head on his shoulders.
The one thing that has impressed me most about him is the calmness at the way he has handled this huge transfer. He doesn’t seem one bit phased by it and he clearly just wants to play football and help his team.
