Manchester United’s season has certainly been a topsy-turvy one up until this point, with Louis van Gaal providing the fans with some great results such as the league wins at Anfield and the Etihad Stadium. However, alongside that has been some shocking performances like the loss at home to Norwich.
One club legend in Teddy Sheringham has defended the manager for these results, and added that its up to the players to play for Louis van Gaal. He has said that the only man performing is David de Gea, and to an extent he’s right.
“David de Gea is probably the only one performing to his potential, and that’s not good for a football club that your goalkeeper is the only one doing that. It has to mean you are doing something wrong.” Teddy Sheringham said.
De Gea has been outstanding all year, and I dread to think where we’d be without the Spaniard in our side. However there have been some other encouraging performances. Chris Smalling has been a sensation, and Anthony Martial has added plenty of dynamism to our struggling attack.
