Manchester United hero tears achilles in charity match

Manchester United played host to a charity match arranged by David Beckham this afternoon, with the proceeds going to UNICEF. Amongst the teams were legends of the game like Ronaldinho, Luis Figo, Clarence Seedorf, Robert Pires and many more, whilst plenty of United greats were also involved.

Dwight Yorke, Paul Scholes, Ji-Sung Park and Nicky Butt all played in the match that ended up 3-1 to the England XI side, but there was a slight dampener on the occasion for the aforementioned Nicky Butt.

He was subbed off midway through the second half, and it has now been confirmed that he has suffered an achilles tear according to the Daily Mirror.

Obviously he doesn’t play week-in week-out any more, but an injury of this nature could keep him off his feet for quite a while. Hopefully he can recover speedily and get back out and about in the not too distant future.
