No sooner had Ander Herrera been subbed onto the field of play, the Basque-born midfielder was taken off. He received an innocuous blow to the body within a minute of taking to the pitch – giving Jose Mourinho an unnecessary problem to have before the season starts.
At this point in time, the extent of the injury is yet to be discovered, but it must be so frustrating for the player and manager – who had to change his plans immediately. Although, it did mean some minutes for young Scott McTominay who played well.

Herrera turned into one of our key players last term, so here is to hoping that this problem isn’t anything too serious and he can be back in action as soon as possible.
Getting a pre-season under your belt is so vital. Building up that match fitness is essential, and things are made much tougher for your body if you start playing the competitive, rigorous Premier League fixtures without preparing your body for those matches.
The midfielder is a tough cookie most of the time, and it didn’t look to be anything too serious. I just want him to be ready for the game against FC Barcelona because he’s already a game down on the rest of his teammates in terms of sharpness.
