Manchester United Football Club sold off a couple of first-team squad members in January, with both Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay leaving the Theatre of Dreams. That selling spree could continue into the summer, if the latest report from The Sun is to be believed.
The English media outlet state that Jesse Lingard is a transfer target for both Chelsea and Arsenal as the Premier League season enters its latter stages. The lad from Warrington has just one-year left on his current contract at Old Trafford, and a couple of our biggest rivals are ready to make their move.
Lingard, who has been at the club for seventeen years, has been in and out of the Manchester United side under Jose Mourinho this campaign – but whenever he does play, he tends to acquit himself nicely.
As we all know, he absolutely loves a goal at Wembley Stadium, and he’s scored three times there in his last three trips to the national ground.
These rumours do seem odd, though. I know he’s talented and a hard worker, but he’d probably be nothing more than a squad player for both of those sides.
Personally, I think he deserves a new contract here. Jose Mourinho seems to like him and footballers like him always come in handy due to their versatility.
