Manchester United could be closing in on their second signing of the summer transfer window, according to The Guardian. In a report, the English media outlet are claiming that Jose Mourinho is hopeful of sealing a deal to bring Nemanja Matic to the Theatre of Dreams.
The Guardian adds that the self-proclaimed Special One is intent on signing the Serbia international, who’ll cost around £40million. A move could be finalised this week.
Matic, 28, has already agreed personal terms apparently, with United and Chelsea already settled on a price – so things should move pretty quickly from here on out. I guess it is now a matter of sorting out all the minor details within a contract, such as appearance fees, add-ons and bonuses etc.
Mourinho is quite clearly a huge fan of Matic’s. He signed him for Chelsea back in the January of 2014, and he went on to win two Premier League winners medals with the Blues.
Now, he looks set to try his hand at achieving a similar feat whilst wearing the famous red jersey of Manchester United. For me, this is a great bit of business, as we’ve lacked that midfield enforcer for years – he can come in and bring in extra protection to the back four.
