Manchester United hopeful that key player will return to action before the end of the season following injury – report

Just when you think Phil Jones was making progress in terms of cutting down on injuries, he goes and gets himself sidelined once again. The 24-year-old goes and gets himself injured whilst on international duty, and apparently, it’s quite serious.

According to Sky Sports News, Manchester United are now ‘hopeful’ that the Englishman will be back before the end of the season. Jones’ toe was damaged in a training ground clash with his domestic teammate, Chris Smalling, and the problem then kept him out of the Three Lions’ games against Germany and Lithuania.

Now, Manchester United will have to cope without the former Blackburn Rovers man for quite a while by the sounds of things, which obviously isn’t good at all. The report also adds that the problem isn’t as bad as first feared, and more tests will be carried out.

It is a real problem, and it definitely presents Jose Mourinho with something to think about. We’re a man down right now, and that leaves us with Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling – with the latter of which also picking up an injury whilst with England.
