Manchester United in advanced talks to sign £42.5million attacker: report

Manchester United’s first season under Jose Mourinho is winding down to a close, with the Red Devils in a rich vein of form at exactly the right time. Now comes the planning for the transfer window, and no doubt, we’ll continue to be linked with pretty much every name under the sun…

The latest report comes from France Football, translated via Get France Football News. They say that Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Bernardo Silva, the AS Monaco attacker, in a deal worth €50million (£42.5million).

Silva, 22, has been an integral part of Monaco’s supremely successful Ligue 1 and Champions League campaign, with the intelligent playmaker finding the back of the net nine times across all competitions.

This is a player that Mourinho will know well as Silva is also Portuguese. He even has a handful of caps to his name already, which further proves just how supremely talented this young man is.

With any signing these days, there is always an element of risk about it. The fee being mentioned is quite standard for such a highly sought after player, and in fact, it seems quite similar as to what Manchester United paid out to sign Anthony Martial a couple of years ago now.

I wholeheartedly trust Mourinho’s judgement with this kind of thing as each of his four signings he has made have all made a good impression on the club so far. Long may this 100% success rate of positive signings continue, and let’s hope Bernardo Silva is the next in line.
