Manchester United and Manchester City will go toe-to-toe at the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday. This’ll be the first meeting between the fierce rivals this season, with Jose Mourinho desperate to close the gap on Pep Guardiola’s men.
Make no mistake about it, this game will be tough, tight and hard-fought. United will have to be at their absolute best to get anything out of the fixture, and our situation hasn’t been made easier by injuries.
Mourinho, in his pre-match press conference, confirmed that both Eric Bailly and Michael Carrick are still out injured and will miss the clash. It’s a huge shame in Bailly’s case, particularly. He’s been our best defender since his arrival from Villareal last summer, and being without him will make our task harder.
The #MUFC manager also says Michael Carrick and Eric Bailly will not feature against Manchester City.

With Paul Pogba out injured too, our midfield is looking rather thin on the ground at this point. In my opinion, Mourinho will play both Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic, while hoping that Marouane Fellaini is fit enough to make the bench. Don’t be surprised to see United stick with the 3-5-2 formation that has served them so well recently, but that’ll mean an awful lot of the ball for City. As long as they do nothing with it, I’m alright with that…
