It was a welcome sight when Eric Bailly’s Ivory Coast side were prematurely dumped out of the African Cup of Nations, as it meant that Manchester United would get the 22-year-old back far earlier than anticipated. However, things have taken another twist…
According to Sky Sports News, the Ivorian centre-half limped off the field midway through the second half of his return, whilst playing for Manchester United’s U23 side.
The report says that Bailly’s ankle was taped up from on the sidelines, but afterwards, he confirmed that the problem is ‘nothing serious’. Hopefully, this is the case and we’ll have him back in action as soon as possible.
One thing that looks certain is the fact that he probably won’t play against Hull City on Wednesday, but that always looked like the plan purely because he started the game this evening.
Anyway, the sooner Eric Bailly is back playing for the first team, the better. He’s already proving just how much of an accomplished defender he is, and having as many options as possible is crucial – particularly as Manchester United are still in four competitions.
