Manchester United certainly reinforced their main striker in Wayne Rooney over the summer, by adding Anthony Martial for a huge £38million. The young Frenchman has gone a long way to repaying that price tag, but the manager clearly isn’t finished bringing in new front men yet.
According to the Italian media outlet Tuttosport, Manchester United could add a bit of experience to the front line, by bringing in Mario Gomez – the German international forward.
Gomez, 30, is currently out on loan at Besiktas from Fiorentina, and has scored an impressive nine goals in fifteen games so far.
There is no doubting he knows where the back of the net is, but my concern would be that he isn’t exactly getting any younger, and the club could do with someone who can offer a few years of service, rather than just one.
