Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the battle to sign Ryan Sessegnon.
That’s according to the usually reliable Paris United, translated by The Sun. They say that the Fulham man has chosen Spurs because he wants to stay close to his family in London.
The 17-year-old has been absolutely sensational this term, practically carrying Fulham to a Championship play-off place at times. If The Cottagers don’t earn promotion then I’d certainly expect to see him leave for pastures new when the transfer window opens.
With Luke Shaw struggling to get into the side coupled with the fact that Ashley Young is ageing, the left-back area certainly needs working on. Sessegnon would be the ideal project for manager Jose Mourinho, but unfortunately, he seems to be heading to White Hart Lane.
That leaves the self-proclaimed Special One with a big decision to make. Does he stick or twist with the aforementioned Shaw? Or does he turn his transfer attentions elsewhere? It’s certainly going to be interesting to watch this one unfold, but I’d be surprised if we don’t see a new left-back enter through the Old Trafford doors before next season starts.
