Manchester United have no plans to sign Juventus left-back Alex Sandro this summer.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, with the report adding that the club would move for a left-back if the right option does become available.
MEN sources are telling them that Jose Mourinho wants to sign a centre-back, a back-up striker and a left-back; although the manager thinks Luke Shaw and Ashley Young are ‘OK’ options.
Honestly, ‘OK’ players don’t win you titles. If the self-proclaimed Special One isn’t fully convinced by what he has on offer, then he certainly should be in the market for a new player in that position.
Young is ageing and I’m just not sure what Mourinho’s issue is with Shaw. He’s obviously an immensely talented lad, but the manager just doesn’t seem interested in giving him a real run in the team.
There are certainly a lot of holes to fill within the current squad. That’s clearly a big concern. We do have several options at both centre-back and striker though and I just find it a bit odd that an elite level full-back isn’t the priority. It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how this one plays out…
