Manchester United Football Club are amongst the clubs who have made contact about potentially signing Serge Aurier. That’s from the IB Times, who cite reports in France from L’Equipe. The 24-year-old’s future in the French capital is now in doubt, following the arrival of Dani Alves.
The article also claims that Manchester City are in the mix, presumably as they look to bring in a full-back following the aforementioned news that Alves turned them down in favour of a move to Ligue 1.
Aurier is an Ivorian right-back who has been in and out of the team at PSG, and it finally looks as though he’s about to leave, with his current employers after around £18-22million to let him go permanently.
Although there are plenty of clubs in Europe chasing his signature, it is thought that not many will be willing to meet his wage demands – presumably because they’ll be quite high for a player of his calibre.
I like him, but there is absolutely no way he’d be displacing Antonio Valencia from our starting line-up anytime soon. He’d be nothing more than a squad player who’ll come in when Valencia is either injured or in need of a rest – and for that reason, I’d probably suggest there are likely to be cheaper, more viable options out there for Jose Mourinho.
