Manchester United man hints he’d like more game time under Van Gaal

Manchester United have always been a club known to give youth a chance and stick with them over the long-run, and Louis van Gaal has certainly adopted that mentality at times this season. One man who has been given his chance is Guillermo Varela, and for the most part he has taken it.

The Uruguayan found himself dropped from the match day squad this week however, due to an absolutely awful performance against Liverpool in the Europa League.

Varela has been speaking to the media since, and thanked Van Gaal for the show of faith, but hinted he’d like to keep playing in the side.

“It’s good for me if the manager (Van Gaal) continues to show faith in me by giving me more game time.” Varela said. “The more I play for United in the first team, the better my chances of breaking into the Uruguay squad.”

It certainly was the right decision making him sit out a game, and It wouldn’t be surprising if he isn’t involved in our next fixture following the international break either. Varela is clearly talented enough though, and I’ve no doubt we’ll see him back involved soon.
