Manchester United midfielder being targeted by Premier League club for summer move

Manchester United Football Club don’t usually offer deals over long periods to their senior players, and that has been the case with Michael Carrick over the last few seasons. Now, the veteran could be on his way out of Old Trafford, as he still hasn’t signed a new deal.

According to the usually reliable Times newspaper, the 34-year old is a shock target for Newcastle United – the side he supported as a kid, based in his home city.

As previously stated, Carrick is yet to open talks with Manchester United about signing a new deal, despite his importance to the first-team. Whilst it would be a blow to lose him, he isn’t getting any younger and it would make sense to bring in a more mobile player to replace him.

A move back to his home City would be ideal for the Geordie lad, and although it would be extremely sad to see him go, it might be for the best.
