Manchester United Football Club are going through a struggling period at the moment. Jose Mourinho’s men are two wins from four, sitting in tenth place in the table.
Perhaps a key factor behind that is some players losing faith in their manager. Paul Pogba hasn’t shied away from hinting at a move away recently, he’s perhaps the leader of the anti-Mourinho pack at this point in time.
We all know the midfielder likes to talk. I guess that’s what makes him such a global phenomenon. Now, he has hit back at his critics who like to talk about his haircuts (I’m looking at you, Garth Crooks and Graeme Souness)…
“A haircut does not prevent you from talking, but I purposely did nothing, to stay low key,” Pogba told RMC per the Manchester Evening News. “Like that, I wasn’t going to hear excuses about my haircut.”
“We are going to stay focused. Talk about football, talk about the pitch, talk about performances. People say I’m a leader … I will never say that, you have to show it on the pitch.”
I’ve no problem with his reasoning behind not getting a fancy chop, but he has to show his performances on the pitch. He hasn’t done that to a high enough level; particularly domestically.
There have been far too many below-par displays from the man who cost £89million. That’s an awful lot of money to pay for someone who has been inconsistent for the most part of two years.
At this point, I’m just bored with the saga. No doubt the transfer stories will start up again when January rolls around, but I definitely think this is the start of the end for Pogba at Old Trafford.
