Manchester United’s U21s secured league victory against Tottenham Hotspur last night, thanks to last minute heroics from Guillermo Varela. However one man who missed the celebrations was James Weir, and according to U21 boss Warren Joyce, his season could be over.
‘James Weir might not play again this season, which is a massive blow for him because he’s been a good leader of the team.’ Warren Joyce said.
This is bitterly disappointing for the young midfielder. Weir has been on the fringes of the first team at times this season, and has been mightily impressive for the U21s all year.
The 20-year old from Preston is looking like a shoe-in to feature on the pre-season tour this coming summer if he’s fit, especially with the lack of midfielders on Manchester United’s books at the moment.
