Manchester United have made Arsenal an offer of £25million, in an attempt to sign Alexis Sanchez, according to The Guardian.
It is thought that Manchester City bid £20million to sign Sanchez earlier in the week, with club and played already agreeing upon a huge £250,000-a-week deal.
Now the Red Devils have entered the chase to sign the world-class Chile international, who are also willing to up the 29-year-old’s salary.
There is one stumbling block, however, and it involves Henrikh Mkhitaryan. United are ready to use the Armenia attacking-midfielder as a make-weight in the deal, but it is thought that his wage demands could be considered unreasonable by Arsenal and Arsene Wenger.
In my opinion, I’d be extremely surprised if this deal happens. I cannot see anything other than Manchester City signing Sanchez, but I’d also be disappointed if the club didn’t even try – which, to my delight, it looks exactly like what they’re doing.
Sanchez, simply put, is an unbelievable footballer and any side in the world would be better off with him in their squad. The pull of working with Pep Guardiola may just prove to be too much for him to turn down, particularly as they’re walking away with the Premier League title.
