Manchester United officials have been left fuming at UEFA’s decision to award Hector Moreno a Man of the Match award after breaking Luke Shaw’s leg, the Mirror say. Moreno, 27, flew in with a crunching tackle on the young left-back, breaking his leg in two places.
Moreno then went on to score the equaliser for PSV Eindhoven, before preventing Manchester United’s attackers from scoring that all-important second goal which would’ve given Van Gaal’s men hope.
You have to say that Moreno did have a superb game despite the fact he should’ve seen red for his horror tackle on Shaw, and honestly I don’t see why UEFA shouldn’t award Moreno a Man of the Match award.
They can only go off what the officials see, and the referee on the night didn’t give a foul for the challenge so the fault here is purely with the man in the middle.
At the end of the day the main thing here is the fact that United are now without Shaw for the foreseeable future, so hopefully he can get himself back fit as soon as possible.
