Manchester United are very close to sealing a move to bring Alvaro Morata to the Theatre of Dreams, according to Spanish publication AS. They say that talks were put on hold due to the Spaniard getting married, but now, they are continuing.
At this point in time, Manchester United have apparently tabled a €70m offer for Morata, with Los Blancos desperate to hold out for somewhere between €80m-90m to let one of their biggest assets leave the club.
AS also add that Morata’s mind is made up and he wants to leave the Santiago Bernabeu for regular football elsewhere, and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to leave, he’ll come in and be our starting striker from day one in my opinion.
This is a player who still has his best years ahead of him, yet Morata has already proven he has no trouble when it comes to hitting the back of the net. Last campaign he scored 20 goals which is a mightily impressive return, considering he was never given a real run in the side.
For me, this would be the signing of the year if Jose Mourinho and Edward Woodward can pull it off. We’re desperate for a new forward who can guarantee goals, and I’m sure that Morata would do exactly that.
Hopefully, talks will now speed up and the Red Devils can get a deal done before our pre-season tour starts, which begins in just less than a fortnight.
