Love it or hate it, the transfer market is just around the corner. As the season winds down to it’s climax, it’s about that time of year when we get linked to every single player under the sun. As Manchester United fans, it tends to be more frequent for us, because our brand sells.
The latest rumour comes from the Daily Mirror, and in an exclusive, they say that Manchester United are readying a huge £40million bid to try and convince Tottenham Hotspur into parting with Eric Dier.
Spurs’ 23-year-old only recently put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at White Hart Lane, but apparently, Jose Mourinho thinks that the North London club could be tempted to part with the Englishman if the right offer comes in.
I think the most attractive thing to Mourinho about Dier’s game has to be his versatility. This is a man who can play as a defensive-minded midfielder, as well as an out-and-out centre-half if the manager sees fit.
However, as we all know too well, Spurs and Daniel Levy are seriously tough negotiators and any deal will not be cheap. There is no doubt that Dier would add another dimension to our defence, and if it means that we’d see the back of one of Phil Jones or Chris Smalling as a result, then I’m all for it…
