Manchester United Football Club is ready to take seriously drastic measures in an attempt to improve the Old Trafford atmosphere.
According to The Times, the club is considering giving song lyric sheets to fans, as they hope it’d mean more people would get behind their team in a vocal capacity.
Honestly, I’ve covered some bizarre stories in my time writing this blog, but this has to be the weirdest. Where do I begin with this?
As a match-going fan who likes to get involved vocally, I understand that standing up and singing just isn’t for everyone. Some people just want to sit down and enjoy the game for what it is, why should they sing and chant if they don’t want to? They’ve as much right as the rest of us to do as they please, as at the end of the day, they’ve paid for their ticket too…
This just seems like a disaster waiting to happen, while making United a real laughing stock amongst their rivals. I don’t think giving people a sheet with song lyrics on will change anything at all. Why not make the L stand trial that took place at Brighton a permanent thin first? I think that’d be an excellent starting point.
