Manchester United Football Club have had an absolute legend of the game in the form of Wayne Rooney on their books for quite some time now, but that story may be about to come to an end. The 31-year-old isn’t getting any younger, and recently, he’s really struggled to impress on the field.
Now The Sun say that Jose Mourinho is ready to compensate the club captain the remaining time of his £250,000-a-week contract so he leaves the Theatre of Dreams this coming summer.
The Evertonian would become a free agent if it happens, allowing clubs to bid for his signature without any kind of transfer fee coming to Manchester United. That’d give Wazza a free selection of where he wants to play his football next.
You’d imagine that his boyhood club Everton would be right at the fore, and what a sensational move it would be for him to go back ‘home’ and end his career there.
If true, this is just class by United. They’ve sensed the player isn’t good enough, but rather than selling him somewhere the player may not want to go, they are more than happy to waive a transfer fee and pay him off.
