Manchester United have received a brilliant double injury boost in the wake of their 4-0 win over West Ham United. That’s what the Daily Mirror writes, and they say that both Ashley Young and Luke Shaw have made remarkable strides towards their Red Devils comebacks.
Apparently, the injured pair both took part in a full contact six-a-side match on the turf following the victory at Old Trafford on Sunday evening – and their comebacks don’t seem that far away right now.
Shaw, 21, hasn’t taken to the field since April, after suffering ankle ligament damage during a league game against Swansea City. The former Aston Villa man Ashley Young had surgery after the Celta Vigo game in the UEFA Europa League at the end of last season – and it’s great to see them back.
The left-back situation is an interesting one for Jose Mourinho right now. The Manchester United boss has options, including the likes of Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind. However, neither are as talented as Shaw. The only problem is that the Englishman cannot stay fit.
Having Ashley Young back would be a great bit of news, too. His versatility is a massive selling point and Mourinho trusts him. He can come in and do a job in multiple positions and it just gives the Red Devils another option.
