Manchester United receive injury boost ahead of Burnley’s visit to Old Trafford

Manchester united won the derby on Wednesday night, thanks to a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford, with the goal coming from Juan Mata. On the night, the club were without both of their first-choice centre-backs in the form of Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling through injury.

That gave a chance to both Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind to prove their worth, and it’s fair to say they grasped that chance with both hands and didn’t give the City forwards a sniff.

Now, Chris Smalling could be about to return following that injury according to the Manchester Evening News. The Englishman had an absolute shocker against Chelsea at the weekend, and if he starts against Burnley, it would be a real show of faith in him from the manager.

Personally, I’d go with the exact same back four that played against City because they all did their individual jobs excellently. Let Chris Smalling fight harder to earn his place back in the side, and then when he does retain it, he’ll give us better performances going forward.
