Manchester United receive timely injury boost as defender makes comeback

Manchester United received some timely injury news yesterday, as Phil Jones made his first-team comeback in an U21 game against Norwich City. The centre-half came through the game unscathed, and will certainly give the manager another option in a defence that has plenty of problems.

It must be highly frustrating for the young man in particular. He has been plagued by injuries since his arrival at Manchester United, and he clearly has the talent, he just needs to go twelve months injury-free.

His versatility is obviously his massive selling point to Louis van Gaal, who likes his players to be able to play in multiple positions. However that can certainly hinder him, as he may well not perfect one position on the field.

Louis van Gaal clearly believes in the 23-year old as well, as he has always looked to play Jones when he is fit. Hopefully he can continue his comeback, and get plenty of first-team games under his belt from now until the end of the season.
