It seems like only yesterday Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement from football management and Manchester United, and what a sad day it was. Since then Sir Alex has remained rather out of the picture, but today there are quotes aplenty as his new autobiography was released.
In the book Sir Alex has confirmed that he rejected the opportunity to sign Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid, as they refused to meet Atleti’s high asking price for the then young Argentinian.
City eventually forked out £38million for him and the rest is history. He has fast become one of their greatest ever players, scoring goals for fun and guiding them to two Premier League titles thus far.
Imagine if Manchester United had paid for Aguero. Its frightening to think just how many more trophies the club could have won with him leading the line.
